• The kanamaluka Tamar Estuary vision represents an extensive process of community and key stakeholder engagement 2021 and builds upon extensive scientific research and government collaboration through the Launceston City Deal. • The $1.2B Bell Bay Powerfuels Project currently under development by its Australian parent company ABEL Energy, with minority investment support from Iberdrola Australia, involves a green hydrogen and green methanol production facility, to be built at Bell Bay Tasmania. The acquisition of the site now accelerates project development, with front end engineering and design (FEED) underway. Commercial operation is scheduled to commence in 2027. The project will also require the development of new power generation assets, to provide sufficient renewable power for the proposed 240MW electrolyser unit. This unit will generate the green hydrogen required for the onsite production of green methanol. For more information, click here.

  • Tasmania is known for its beautiful natural landscapes that bring thousands of visitors to our island home year after year. The Bay of Fires attracted more than 206,000 visitors from March 2020 to September 2021. The Bay of Fires is heavily promoted through State agencies like Tourism Tasmania’s campaigns for the Great Eastern Drive as well as their Come Down for Air campaign. There is no plan or strategy for dealing with this increased visitation.

Before the area is loved to death by increased visitation it is imperative that all stakeholders work together proactively to ensure the sustainability of the area, environmentally, culturally, socially, and economically. For more information, click here.
