“Let’s Get Working” Northern Tasmania Employability Event
The Northern Tasmanian Development Corporation (NTDC) is hosting a free employability event in Launceston on 23 October 2020. The event is designed to empower people to seek employment locally and to retain skilled workers in the region. The Launceston edition is the third in a series of successful events.
The NTDC is charged with improving the economic and social prosperity of Northern and North-Eastern Tasmania. We are presenting this event to enlighten attendees on:
- Job search Methods
- The hidden job market
- Networking techniques
- Ag sector jobs
- Skills transfer from one industry to another
NTDC Chief Executive Mark Baker said the session comes at a critical time in the labour market with changes to JobKeeper.
“People impacted by unemployment should be encouraged to know that there are jobs out there,” Mr Baker said.
“This session will provide the tips, connections and contacts to give yourself the skills and confidence to get working in a competing environment.”
NTDC Population Attraction Coordinator Edward Obi said this event promises to be a great opportunity for job seekers and employers alike.
“Majority of employers have said that they consider soft skills more important that hard skills,” Mr Obi said.
“This event will highlight the important soft skills and other factors that influence hiring decisions.”
Speakers at the event include:
- Andrew Pitt (President of Launceston Chamber of Commerce)
- Karina Dambergs (CEO Fermentas)
- James McCormack (Employment Coordinator Northern Tasmania)
- Adam Mostogl (Director Van Diemen Project)
- Ari Reich (NEIS Consultant)
