KANAMALUKA TRAIL
The kanamaluka trail story telling experience aims to enlighten visitors about the Tasmanian Aboriginal Litarimirina tribe who ranged from Port Dalrymple along the eastern side of kanamaluka/RiverTamar, towards today's Launceston.
In recognition of this and as we continue our Reconciliation journey through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), George Town Council has developed a concept plan to tell their story along the kanamaluka (Tamar River) at George Town. The storytelling experience offers a glimpse into the pre-European life of the Tasmanian Aboriginal people, including cultural associations, day-to-day activities, ceremonies, and their interactions with the natural landscape. The experience also informs the visitor about the struggles that the Tasmanian Aboriginal people have endured since European occupation and their continued fight for recognition.
