UTAS COMMUNITY CLINIC EXPANSION
The University provides community services through our existing network of clinics in the North. These include: the Tax Clinic (partnership with the Northern Suburbs Community Centre); Mission Health (collaboration with Launceston City Mission which provides primary health care for the homeless); and the Psychology Clinic (providing professional psychology services). Pre-COVID-19, an Exercise Physiology Clinic also provided exercise prescriptions and classes to the public for individuals with chronic diseases. The clinics provide increased access to low-cost or free services for the communities in which they are located, as well as valuable professional placement opportunities for our students. The University wants to expand the existing network of clinics and establish new clinics throughout the North and North West regions. These clinics could provide access to allied health services, financial and health literacy support, depending on an assessment of individual community needs.
